Information

In the most beautiful surroundings by the Kolding fjord lies Trapholt, an internationally recognized museum for modern art, handicrafts and design. Here you can experience large exhibitions with international and Danish artists and designers, sensual art exhibitions and Danish furniture design. Around the museum is a large sculpture park, and in the café and on the terrace you can enjoy the view of the fjord.

Description

Trapholt is a museum of modern art, handicrafts and design with unique architecture and scenic location down to the Kolding fjord. The museum is a national cultural beacon in the design city of Kolding, which is a member of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network.

The museum’s architecture is an attraction in itself. Built around the central museum street, the exhibition rooms open up exciting spatial experiences. Outside stands the strong, sculptural wall that separates the museum from a large sculpture park.

Trapholt offers changing exhibitions with Danish and international artists and designers. The museum has Denmark’s largest chair collection of more than 500 chairs from the 20th century.

Arne Jacobsen’s Kubeflex summer house is a total experience for the audience interested in design and architecture; the only one of its kind and furnished with Jacobsen’s own designs. At the museum, a special room is dedicated to paintings by Richard Mortensen – a room that has been created in close collaboration with the artist himself.

In Café Gustav Lind you can enjoy the view over Kolding Fjord, and in Trapholt Design shop a wide selection of interior design from Danish and international brands is presented.
